Joe, I got a I think 350w flood light from Farm and Fleet ($10) and use that for the enclosure. Works perfect.  One user I am pretty sure got both the flood board and the Vdrive all in one 500w enclosure.

DC, We had a flood off at the Chicago Mini last year and both were there.  I liked the Vflood better for my house since with my display, I cant put a flood 20' from the wall to get a super wide spread.   Unless you are trying to light up the side of 40' tall commercial building or something, I dont think its worth the extra $50.  Thats just my opinion.

FYI, TwodogLights did mention they are working on coming out with a larger flood this year that used the larger LED modules like the aether.

Hmmm... looks interesting.  I'd be curious to see a comparison of the VFlood and the Aether - the thing that people keep saying is how much brighter it is than the competitors' LEDs... But I wonder if it's $50 brighter!

I like the strobe functionality, that would be a cool effect, a giant strobe!!

What did you use for enclosure, as it says the enclosure is not included? My first thought is some type of landscaping light enclosure.

Tks!
Joe

I'm planning on getting a couple this year too, Lynx Aether from DIY Light Animation.com. About $125 each,DMX, just waiting for a coop to start.

You're understanding of the channels sounds right, not sure about the power source.

I'm thinking about adding flood lights to our 2012 display. I've heard a lot of good things aobut the Rainbow floods from Seasonal Entertainment. Since they operate on DMX, I assume that Aurora 1.0.90 with the DMX patch will operate & control them easily?

Will each flood require 3 channels of a controller, one each for R, G, & B?

Also I guess I'd need a DC controller and some type of DC power source?
Obviously I have no idea what I'm getting into. LOL I do know that with the help of the posters on this forum, you'll guide me in the right direction, Clap

Who else is using floods in your display and what's your set-up?

Tks!
Joe
