Good morning folks! I just joined the discussion group mainly because I am encountering issues in starting Aurora.

The darn thing will not even start after installation. Program appears to have installed correctly, but when I try to start it, I get a pop-up with the following details:
==============
Aurora encountered and (Should be an) unexpected error and will now reset.

Debugging information: 399

Component "MSCOMM32.OCX" or one of its dependencies not registered: a file is missing or invalid.
WAVSpyResize
Main
==================

I then click OK and it tries to do something over and over.....  I have to kill aurora_sequencer.exe with task manager.

What gives??? It is kind of hard to register the software when it will not even start.

My system: Vista Ultimate 32-bit, 4GB RAM, Q6600 CPU @ 2.4GHz, video card with 256MB RAM.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions/assistance.

Welcome aboard, Serge!

As we've discovered, Vista is less than friendly to Aurora due to its UAC (security) and lack of support for XP/Win98/NT comm routines. But it is fixable.

For starters, got through the procedure(s) here: http://www.lightsonlogan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=250   be sure to do a soft-boot when you're before running Aurora.

The closing error is another issue - nothing is harmed by this, its just annoying. Fix should be out soon for that.

Thanks for the reply! So, I did the following:
- Downloaded the new install kit as indicated in the other thread.
- Uninstalled the previous version.
- Rebooted the system.
- Installed the new version (as admin)
- Rebooted.
- Try to run it, but I get the same error as before. Still does not work.

I am baffled, to say the least....
